neck, shoulder and back pain

Pain Management Therapy

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), pain treatment follows a balanced approach, where we treat the body as a whole. This includes the principle of "treating the upper body by stimulating the lower body, and treating the left side by stimulating the right side." For example, pain in the upper limbs can be treated by acupuncture on the lower limbs, and pain in the left hand can be treated by stimulating acupoints on the right hand, and vice versa. This reflects TCM's holistic view, emphasizing balance in the body.

Pain can also be categorized as either deficient or excessive. In simple terms, deficient pain arises from insufficient Qi and blood, causing the tissues to be "un-nourished and painful," while excessive pain is due to Qi and blood stagnation, where the flow is blocked, leading to pain from "obstruction."

In treating pain, TCM not only focuses on local pain relief but also takes into account the nature (deficient or excessive) and location of the pain. The treatment is tailored to restore balance throughout the body—up and down, left and right—addressing conditions of "obstruction" or "insufficient nourishment." The goal is not just to relieve the pain, but also to treat the underlying causes, ensuring a long-term solution.
